There's nothing like a pretty cake to make an occasion extra special. Yes, taste is absolutely essential but there's a certain satisfaction of savouring food that looks as pretty as a picture. As the adage goes, "we eat first with our eyes."

Similarly with fashion, there are also food trends that pop up here and there especially on the socials. One of them being cakes. Or rather, minimalist cakes, that feature usually just text (which are almost always lower caps) with some small design details. These originated from and were popularized by Korean bakeshops and cafes in Korean social media. And as a minimalist and Scandinavian design fan I was already on board and sailing this ship.

Here are some pretty minimalist 'Korean' inspired cakes that you can get in Metro Manila.

Aren't they just so nice to look at? So simple. So clean. So pretty. This list is by no means arranged from best to worst and not all of them are 'viral/famous'. There are still a lot of cafes/bakeries/home bakers that I missed but I can't put them all here.

Now, I understand that most of these are located in QC, but so far from my research there are a lot of bakeries and home bakers in QC that have 'minimalist' cakes. If you know any other places that sell minimalist/korean cakes email me (manilawithlove@gmail.com) or contact my socials! If you're the owner and provide these kind of cakes hit me up!- so we can add your shop here or on another post :)

With the pandemic still looming over everyone's heads with some areas more than others’ (other countries are starting to operate normally like gyms/malls/restos etc albeit some adjustments) people who usually get more activity during the day pre-covid have adjusted to getting their serotonin-fix at home.

Home gym equipment like barbells and dumbbells and more compact equipment like booty bands and waist and thigh trainers as well as Youtube workouts have become a regular thing - so regular that gym rats like myself might consider this to be a normal routine post-covid.

The World Health Organization advises to continue working out when the gyms are closed/public spaces for physical and mental benefits. (source : here)

Since more and more people are doing the majority of their fitness activities at home, apart from workout equipment, workout clothes are also flying off the (virtual) shelves of online stores. With so many brands to choose from it can get expensive if you need sets to last you for the week especially if you workout almost every day.
FeelingGirlDress has not only cute dresses for casual to formal wear, but also affordable activewear like leggings, bras, shorts and sets for all days of the week. Here are my top picks for working out and maybe just for lounging around (no judgement here!).

I’m partial to pastel colors and shorts so these are just *chef’s kisses* perfect. These shorts and long sleeve combo have the sleeve detail so that the sleeves don’t roll up and move when you do certain movements. The high-waisted shorts also give a nice silhouette. And the square neck-line is flattering and very ‘trendy’ -if you’re into that. Get this for $ 7.60.

I also love me some classic neutrals so whites and grays are also a staple colour. And as you can see these are shorts again! I just can’t do full leggings lately in our weather, can you? White is $5.99, gray one is $6.91.

Feelingirldress has a variety of workout wear as well as plus size items and even lingerie - because who are we kidding, most of us who are blessed enough are either in sleepwear or workout clothes majority of the time.

Let me know if you find something you like or you’ve ordered from Feelingirldress! Their collection of wholesale activewear are actually pretty nice. I hope you stay safe at home and if you need to go out to be careful.<3

Ask any beauty aficionado, what their favorite sunscreen is and more often than not the Biore UV watery essence will pop up. It's no secret that most Japanese skincare brands have my heart (along with Korean beauty products) - they just work really well for me. I'm an avid fan of the Biore UV watery sunscreen in the blue tube/bottle and can completely understand why it has cult status.

Why's to love about Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essense?

It has a water-gel texture that's easily absorbed by the skin giving a natural, skin-like non-greasy finish (no noticeable white cast). It's also super lightweight, making it great under makeup or by itself.

Sometimes  though you want something different, you can't get a hold of the Biore sunscreen or for some reason it's not working for you anymore. Enter Village 11 Factory's Hydra Sun Fluid.

Biorè vs Village 11 Factory

1. Bottle - Village 11 has a pump but there's a tendency to lose the cap as it can be easily opened whereas the Biore one comes in a squeezable tube and a harder bottle with a screw-top.
2. Scent - The Biore has this alcohol-scent to it while this one has no noticeable scent.
3. Texture - While similar, Village 11 is more water-gel-like than Biore. But both are runny.
4. Color - Biore is has more of a milky color that blends on the skin while the Village 11 is clear.
5. Availability - Biore is more easily accesible at most Watsons' stores while Village 11 you can only find online. I got mine at Mei Satsuki on Shoppee (they also have a Facebook!)
6. Price - Biore's 50g tube costs around P500 at Watsons while Village 11's 50ml tube is around P650. Not much difference really.

Get the Biorè if you like Japanese brands or if Biorè in general has worked for you (if certain brands already work for you my advice is to stick to it) but if you're sensitive to scents or don't like alcohol-smelling products get the Village 11 Factory instead or Face Republic's Super Screen Sun Gel! (Very similar to Village 11's. All in all, they work great on their own and under makeup :)

Which one have you tried? Are you a kbeauty hoe or a japanjapan one? I'm both if you couldn't tell already.
