Love Local | PLUMS, WINE, MAGENTAS? Try these affordable tints

Personally I think deep berries, plums, wines and magenta lip colours look good on all skintones. Which is why I have a strong affinity to them when I look at lipsticks and tints. These deep tones are the only shades I can buy blindly, without swatching and know for a fact I can rock it.

Tints are also fits my lifestyle most. Something multi-purpose and doesn't need as much precision as lets say a liquid lipstick.

Posted are the in my roster that I've tried. Some are better than the others but everything is cheap and definitely under Php 200. Read on for my thoughts on consistency, scent, taste and longevity.

Prices

KJM - Php 110 / 10 ml (depending on the seller)
EyeNLip - Php 199  / 34 g / 6 ml (Korean Beauty bazaar at Eastwood City)
EB Advance - Php 175 / 20 ml
Paintbox by Bench - Php 180 / 15 ml
Vice Cosmetics - Php 145 / 3.5 ml

Consistency | Texture | Scent

KJM & EB Advance, both seem unscented while Paintbox has this 'alcoholic' chemical-y scent to it. Faint but it's there. Eye N Lip and Vice smell sweet and candy-like they taste sweet too! So does the KJM despite being unscented.

Out of all the tints, EB Advance  and Vice have a more 'gel-like' textureone which is why I think both tints are pretty blend-able. The Vice tint is actually a 'water and gel lip and cheek tint' so that explains the texture.

The others are thinner in consistency, a little more watery making it dry-out quicker on the skin so you have to work a little bit faster in order for it to not be patchy.

Pigmentation | Longevity / Wear-time

Right off the bat, Eye N Lip and KJM are the most intensely pigmented ones with just a dot of product used. Next would be Paintbox by Bench. Vice and EB Advance are a little more sheer in comparison but can be built up a little.

As for longevity (even after eating), the thinner ones wear longer than the gel-textured ones. Eye N Lip being the top long-wearing color next are Paintbox and KJM. The color on the lips is a little lighter but it's still there.

It's a different story on the cheeks though. I find that on my (normal-dry) skin, EB Advance needs to be reapplied and after a while during a normal office day while the rest fair well and no need for visible reapplication.

Final thoughts

EB Advance is the lowest ranking for me followed by Paintbox by Bench because of the 'alcohol-like chemical' scent and taste. Top one would be the Korean contender Eye N Lip and KJM as well as the Vice one mainly because of ease of application, it's vegan and cruelty-free! One caveat though regarding the Vice, is that there's not a lot. You're probably going to go through this quite quickly. 3.5 ml though for Php 145.

You might also be wondering why I didn't include lip swatches...well they essentially all look the same on my lips Lol the Eye N Lip being darker and the KJM leaning more purple.

Those are my thoughts! Have you tried any of these? What tints would you recommend?

xx,
CJ
